Spring is here & The Cambria Currents Team has been busy! This past March, Cambria Currents partnered with Bali Gems to kick off a fun-filled 2023 by organizing a community potluck. The event featured a performance by award-winning American Roots artist Noach Tangeras, and delicious food shared by friends and neighbors. A great time was had by all. If you missed that one, don’t worry – there are more good times on the way in late May!

This Sunday, May 21st from 4 pm – 6 pm Cambria Currents will present a Mediterranean Themed Potluck hosted by Julia & Cat in Pinewood Knolls Estate. The CC Team encourages all to join in the festivities and immerse themselves in Mediterranean culture, complete with Armenian dancing.

You may be wondering, “What is Mediterranean-style cuisine like?” so you will know what types of food to bring along to share. Mediterranean-style cooking has its roots in the dietary habits of ancient civilizations that developed off the shores of the Mediterranean Basin. These diets revolved around some key staples: olive oils, wines, seafood, bread, and fresh vegetables.

Think hummuses served with cucumbers, tomatoes & beets or perhaps quartered slices of naan bread. Crumbled Greek cheeses over roasted vegetables dressed with healthy oils, and blackened or braised fish topped with Italian spice blends. A few other Mediterranean favorites are Gyros (rotisserie meats served in a pita bread commonly topped with tzatziki), Dolmas (young marinated grape leaves stuffed with lemon rice & a variety of vegetables or meats), and Spanakopita (a savory pastry filled with spinach, feta, and spices).

The delicious array of dishes from this region is truly limitless! Be sure to look up some Greek, Italian, and Middle Eastern recipes to inspire your contribution. And, of course, wine is always a wonderful choice to accompany Mediterranean spreads.

Be sure to share the Potluck event page with your friends & neighbors as well. Here’s to a joyful spring!
